New York Times & Twitter

The New York Times online has a rather elegant integration with Twitter. The user experience is simple and intuitive, the design appealing and the options perfect. After associating my NYTimes online account with my Twitter account, a header menu appeared on the NYTimes pages allowing me to recommend and showing the last article I posted to Twitter. Quite a good experience.
Citizen Journalism

The flattening of the world that Friedman writes about is, as we all know, contingent. Just look at Lagos. There are, however, some compelling citizen journalism projects taking fire. Some democratization via the Web is occuring, also as we all know. Here are a few of my recent favorites:
Advertising to Advertisers (and Readers)

The Sydney Morning Herald has taken a different approach to luring advertisers to its pages. The campaign includes collectible vinyl toys, event marketing, print advertising, and a Web site. The work was done by Host and The Glue Society and toy designer Jon Burgerman of Thunderdog Studios.
With decreased print advertising revenues for newspapers, I’m curious about the metrics. The creative is good, and grounded in solid marketing strategy. What bumps in readership will be achieved? And are those increases sustainable?
